History will be kind towards the Citroën Cactus

Inspired by the Cactus hate in the latest Jalopnik Citroën article, I will take a stand here and say that the Citroen Cactus will go down in time as a good-looking car. Look at the cleanliness of the front. The lack of imposing grille, the lack of large brake cooling inlets/foglight pods in front of the wheels and the lack of hood surfacing.

In a time where everyone and their mother are copying Audi, Citroën is not. And I like the look of this car. Surface wise, it’s very uncomplicated, save for the door bumpers.

I think anything with divorced lighting elements is attacked on here simply for association; Aztek, Juke, new Cherokee, Cactus. This Citroen honestly has a great design, I mean top of class cues.

Top trivai: The Air Bumps on the side are no -cost optional extras.

The door bumpers serve a great purpose. The way the French drive and the limited visibility of modern cards means you’re going to get hit eventually and the bumpers on the doors and under the lights add some extra protection.

I just love the name “Citroen Cactus”. I have no opinion on the goodness or badness of said vehicle.

I really like the Cactus. Citroen’s always made some offbeat things, and the Cactus is a great return to form :)

Those things are most assuredly not for car-on-car collisions. They’re meant for things like shopping carts slamming into the side of your vehicle.

They look ok in person, there’s loads of them here in Manchester (the original one), very colour dependent though, white with the brown trim is a bit meh, saw a dark purple one the other day and that looked pretty nice. Shame they are based on the below par C3 though and have weak engine choices.
